Deleting your data
Last updated 7 October 2026
You can delete what Scout keeps about you at any time. Here is how, and what happens.
If you use Scout on WhatsApp
- Send delete my data to Scout's WhatsApp number. Scout deletes your saved cards and memberships and its record of you at once, and replies to confirm.
- Or write to admin@askscout.co with the subject “Delete my Scout data” and the WhatsApp number you used. We may ask you to confirm the request from that number.
To stop messages without deleting anything, send STOP.
If you use the website
- Your saved cards and memberships are kept in your own browser: remove them on Scout with “forget them all”, or clear askscout.co's cookies and site data in your browser.
- For records on our servers, write to admin@askscout.co with the dates you used Scout and what you searched for, so we can find them.
What happens next
- We confirm a request by email within 30 days, and delete everything we can link to you.
- Daily backups are kept for 7 days, so deleted data can stay in a backup for up to 7 more days before it is gone.
- Records we must keep by law, if any, are kept only as long as the law requires.
Messages you sent on WhatsApp also stay in your own chat and on WhatsApp under Meta's policies. Scout cannot delete those.
